General Statement of Duties
Responds to emergencies and perform EMS activities per company standard. Supervises activities of employees, and training preceptors. Performs with limited supervision through Standard Operating Procedures and established protocols and directives. Promotes health and safety of the department and community through education. Performs related work as required. In addition to the requirements contained within the EMT/PMD position description, the Training Preceptor will assist the Training Manager with planning, education and direction for of employees. Perform related EMS work as required.


Training Preceptor Qualifications
Meets all job requirements of Emergency Medical Technician as defined by state, regional and local regulatory agencies.
Must have 1 year EMT/PMD experience and be in good standing
Florida Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT-B) OR Florida Paramedic Certification
Valid CPR card
CPR card that meets AHA or American Red Cross standards with hands-on Adult, Child, Infant, and AED training
Valid Florida driver's license
CEVO 4 (Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators Course) Can be obtained within the company
Must maintain eligibility as defined by background and drug-free workplace policies

Training Preceptor will also be required to have the following aptitudes for work:
Ability to communicate verbally; via telephone and radio equipment or directly and ability to interpret and respond to written, oral and diagnostic form instructions
Must have the ability to read road maps and GPS system; Must be able to drive and accurately discern street signs and address
Ability to communicate verbally with patients and significant others in diverse cultural and age groups to interview patients, family members, and bystanders.
Ability to bend, stoop, balance, and crawl on uneven terrain; and the ability to withstand varied environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold, and moisture
Must have knowledge and skills relevant to the position and be able to implement them in stressful situations
Must be cognizant of all legal, ethical, and moral obligations inherent within scope of practice
Must gain and maintain knowledge of the AmeriCare policies and procedures
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and the general public.
Maintains a positive and respectful attitude
Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
Demonstrates awareness and understanding of the various internal and external cultures that utilize department services
Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position

Training Captain functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional and local regulatory agencies.
Performs and trains the role of EMR/EMT/PMD in compliance with the company's SOPs and directives
Assists with Patient Care Protocol revisions
Assists in the direction of the quality assurance program through program development, critiques, debriefings, and audits
Shall participate and instruct in the department training program
Communicates regularly with training captain about training issues
Assists in the development of related Standard Operating Procedures
Promotes departmental policies, procedures, objectives, safety, and quality assurance programs
Assists with the coordination of staff to attend mandatory education and in-service activities
Interacts effectively, professionally, tactfully with the general public and all participating agencies; dispatch, law enforcement
Undertakes continuous medical and company education as well as works with the community, medical professionals and others to educate and advise of the role, capabilities and responsibilities of a Lieutenant, common medical issues, etc
Shall attend extra training and staff meetings as required
Maintain all responsibilities of the level of certification
