GlobalDirector of Continuous Improvement, Iselin, NJ

The Global Director of Continuous Improvement (CI)defines and deploys Catalysts (CC) Continuous Improvement (LEAN/Six Sigma)culture globally.The Global Director ofCI must work closely with the SBU Leaders (SBU Senior Vice Presidents, SBU VicePresidents, Manufacturing VPs/Directors and Site Leaders) and the Senior VicePresident of CCT technology to create stretch targets for ContinuousImprovement within the division, ensuring their team support helps them reachtheir targets for efficiency and effectiveness improvements. The GlobalDirector of CI leads a team of 7-10 direct reports and an entire community ofsite Continuous Improvement Leaders (~35 people).The Global Director of CI is also an activemember of BASFs Continuous Improvement community (COE, etc.)

In order to further drive Continuous Improvement inthe division, the Continuous Improvement team will enhance transparency of thecurrent state of Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence by leadingthe implementation of Asset Target Pictures and Asset Development Plans. Thisis a complex process as each SBU has unique needs. The Continuous Improvementteam will drive the expansion of the CC Continuous improvement pipeline ensuringdivision strategic targets are met, ensuring full participation by every CCsite in the BASF Operational Excellence database.

To support the progress on CCs ContinuousImprovement, the Global Director of Continuous Improvement leads a team of 4Continuous Improvement Experts.The GlobalDirector supports this team by deploying Continuous Improvement (LEAN/SixSigma) tools enterprise-wide (Including within the CC Research and Developmentteams in RCC and RCN) and by coaching and supervising Continuous Improvementprojects that are implemented by the site and function team members reportingto the SBUs . This team will identify training needswithin the division (LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.) and deliver training workshops thatstrengthen the development of the Continuous Improvement culture.

With the support of the Manager of Technology andProduction Support, the Director of Continuous Improvement will drive projectson behalf of the CC Global Operations Leadership Forum (CC OperationsLeadership team) such as Asset Effectiveness and Maintenance Excellence andReliability Program (MERP).The Managerof Technology and Production Support is the coordinator for the CC GlobalOperations Leadership Forum, ensuring the development of meeting agendas andactions are completed.

The team will also lead Responsible Care-focusedcontinuous improvements by ensuring the CC RC Self Assurance process isactively executed at all sites, participating in root cause analysis reviewsfor all high severity incidents, and coaching sites to use Lean/Six sigmaproblem solving tools to address common root causes across incidents.

CCTs cost control function will also be a part ofthis group. Cost control, led by the Global Director of Continuous Improvement,will monitor & forecast costs related to all CCT activities.

The Global Director of Continuous Improvement isalso tasked with creating a CC Continuous Improvement community that is open,active and excited about sharing their findings and supporting each other ontheir Continuous Improvement journeys.


Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formulafor Success... Capitalizing on your Manufacturing andContinuous Improvement experience and achievements and your impactfulleadership skills, while leveraging your strength in the deployment ofContinuous Improvement tools e.g. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification orhigher, you will

  • Efficientlymanage cost control while monitoring and forecasting the costs of CCT activities

  • Developtransparency on Operational Excellence and identify and prioritize futureopportunities

  • Effectivelynegotiate with SBU leadership and influence the execution of CI stretch targets

  • Impartyour experience in building high performing teams by developing CI leadersacross all CC SBUs and ensure the CI culture thrives enterprise wide

  • Ensureprocesses are actively executed across all sites and projects are drivensuccessfully, securing CC meets BASFs CI standards

  • Createa CC Continuous Improvement community which identifies & implements CI bestpractices, while you encourage and support the accelerated growth of CCsContinuous Improvement culture
