Your challenge!
This position will coordinate, in the most cost effective and efficient manner, the daily activities of our internal fleet of vehicles as well as direct the activities of outbound deliveries. The Dispatcher will work collectively with the Transportation Manager to facilitate and ensure our highest level of service to all of our customers.

  • Receive calls from customers, input their service needs into computer, print work orders.
  • Assign work order to specific vehicles, organizing those vehicle runs in an efficient and cost effective manner, utilizing available drivers and equipment.
  • Change the routing as necessary (pick up needed ASAP, vehicle breakdown, etc.), while maintaining efficiency.
  • Co-ordinate loading/unloading trailers with plant staff.
  • Track and complete any outbound load paperwork.
  • Complete Customs paperwork when needed.
  • Inform plant(s) of changes in outbound loads.
  • Communicate with sales staff regarding customer service requests and complaints.
  • Alert Transportation Manager of driver and/or equipment problems (including trucks, trailers, containers, off site equipment).
  • Discuss productivity issues with Transportation Manager (drivers, call scheduling, etc.)
  • Track location of all trailers, roll off containers, all other units.
  • Track driver key stats.
  • Manage outbound driver log.
  • Manage board and runs
  • Talley shipping & receiving reports
  • Comply with all Employment and Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Coordinate transportation safety committee

Desired Experience and Skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally over the phone and radio.

  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel as well as an aptitude for custom programming.
  • Preferable experience with Trux software.
  • High School level or better math skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Self motivated problem solver.
  • Preferably 3 years industry experience .
  • At least 3 years experience with computers
