Job Description:

Description: The Emergency Medical Technician II performs various technical duties and tasks which include assisting with direct and indirect treatment and care of patients.

Typical Duties:
  • Performs EKGs, venipuncture, IV skills and bedside testing.
  • Provides emergency first aid treatment.
  • Responds to medical emergencies.
  • Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
  • Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
  • Notifies nurse of abnormal findings or changes in patient status.
  • Performs clerical functions.
  • Accesses and navigates through Epic.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
    Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of the Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX) curriculum as defined by the State of Texas.
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • State Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B TX).
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 1 plus years of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience
  • Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Level 1 EKG Competency (subsequent to hire)
