This position is for a skilled worker in the repair and maintenance of electronic devices, electronic subsystems, and smaller electronic systems. Employees calibrate, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair electronic devices or systems made up of several interconnected devices requiring troubleshooting and repairing abilities. Documentation in the form of schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals may be fragmented or nonexistent. This position is heavily involved in the Life Safety Management Plan relating to monitoring fire alarm systems, investigating fire alarm activities and compiling data for the submission of reports to EOC (Environment of Care).

  • Working knowledge of electronic principles.
  • Working knowledge of the fundamentals of physics as applied to electronics.
  • Working knowledge of the uses of standard and specialized electronic testing equipment.
  • Ability to analyze and modify standard circuitry to improve its performance or to perform special effects.
  • Ability to troubleshoot non-standard electronic devices or devices for which documentation is incomplete or not available.
  • ** Management prefers : Training/experience in monitoring fire alarm systems, investigating fire alarms activities and compiling data for the submission of reports. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    Associate's degree in electronics from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems including some responsibility for the design of electronic apparatus;
    or
    an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.

    Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
